After a long drive from Napier to Wellington we finally reached Wendy's place where we stayed for a few nights and caught up with our washing (tedious but essential unless you can afford an entourage to carry your 5 months worth of luggage!). I have known Wendy for 40 years - we met when she was teaching in London and have kept in touch and visited each other over the years - of course we don't look or feel any different............
She kindly drove us up Mount Victoria to be almost blown off as we reached the summit on foot (it was extremely windy) - fantastic view
We also visited the Wellington and Te Papa museums. There was an exhibition on Gallipoli which had the most amazing larger than life, very realistic models

Couldn't resist - talk about the morning after the night before!
One evening we met up with Robyn (who I met at the same time as Wendy), her sister Suzanne and friend Angela - I haven't seen any of the 3 since 1986! It was a great reunion and I am hoping to see them again next year when I come back for the women's rugby world cup

The next day Denise dyed her roots at the hairdressers and Wendy and I played 10 holes of golf. The outcome was a draw - she won the stableford by 1 point and I won the medal by 1 shot
