Montevideo

We had a very strange journey to Montevideo from BA! We went to the port to get a boat for a 2 1/2 hour journey over the Rio de la Plata, we got onto the boat without actually seeing it but inside was very modern with comfortable reclining airline style seats and we were made to wear paper over shoes so that we didn't ruin the plush pale green carpets! We positioned ourselves next to a window so that we could enjoy the whole experience but soon realised that all the windows were white and you couldn't see out! We did experience some engine noise and vibration but we could have been sitting in a simulator for all we knew, Thankfully we did arrive safe and sound and, after complaining about the apartment we were first given and moving in to a lovely modern apartment on the 11th floor overlooking Plaza Independencia all was well. Having experienced the mountains of meat and lack of vegetables in Argentina we were looking forward to a change of diet - no such luck, it was more of the same only twice the price. It's so expensive here!! This place is a lot poorer, more delapitated and much quieter than BA although some of the buildings are quite magnificent. We took a 2 hour bus trip around the city to see the sights - it cost £20 each (a bit different to going to Tigre)

If you look carefully you might see a red pepper on the grill!

We thought we would try a beef rib - it wasn't what we were expecting!

No plans to move there then? Reminds me a bit of Cuba....except with yuge slabs of meat. Looks fab though (yawn) 😜. Oh and that’s a Monk Parakeet in case you are interested. And a finch.
